The folks at CBC Radio's Wiretap are signing off forever and recently posted this video which was created to show how we are forever in the process of growing up. The video is going viral, and for all the right reasons.
The video shows a variety of different people, at different ages, offering words of wisdom to those younger than them. The interviewees ages are spread across the lifespan, thus the words of wisdom range from comical, to nostalgic, and to the infinitely true.
It got me thinking about words of wisdom that I would offer my younger self. Here are a few that came to mind:
Dear 5 Year Old: It is ok to leave your mother's side; she's got your back even if she's across the room.
Dear 10 Year Old: You don't have to have the highest marks in your class; your intelligence is not based on a report card.
Dear 15 Year Old: Your opinion matters. Speak up, find your voice. You will never regret stating your truth.
Dear 20 Year Old: He's Just Not That Into You. Move on and save yourself another 3 years of heartbreak and confusion.
Dear 25 Year Old: This is not your midlife crisis so get over yourself. You may not be married or have children but you are exactly where you are meant to be.
Dear 30 Year Old: Life is about to change forever and your world will no longer revolve around you. However. This year will go down as one of the best years of your life. Buckle in.
I have a lot of years left to live, and a lot of lessons left to learn, and I can't wait to see what words of wisdom I am meant to receive next.
What words of wisdom would you give your younger self?
